National ICT Internship program

PSEB in collaboration with National ICT R&D Fund has started a new program titled “National ICT Internship program”. Through this program PSEB planned to deploy 800 interns in the ICT Industry for a period of four month. Four interns will be deployed in 2013 and 400 interns will be deployed in 2014.

This program was launched in June 2013 and by now PSEB has deployed over 300 interns in the ICT Industry of which over 100 interns have already secured their full time employment in the ICT Industry in October 2013. It is expected that by the end of December 2013 over 250 interns will secure their employment under PSEB’s National ICT Internship program.

PSEB’s Incubator program

PSEB in collaboration with National ICT R&D Fund has started a new program titled “PSEB’s incubator program”. Through this program PSEB planned to establish 10 new startup companies in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad. Five companies will be launched in 2013 and five companies will be launched in 2014.

This program was launched in May 2013 and by now PSEB has launched following five companies at its various locations;

1).Autonomous survey boat, Islamabad

2).Diagnostic Kit for Efi cars, Islamabad

3).Identification of friend and foe in the battle field, Islamabad

4).Kinnectometer, Lahore

5).Alvile Robotics, Karachi

 

Seeking Expression of Interest From ICT Companies

Pakistan Software Export Board in collaboration with the National ICT R&D Fund has launched a new internship program titled “National ICT Internship program”. Through this program, PSEB will place 800 graduates in the ICT companies for a period of four months. PSEB will pay stipend to the ICT interns through “National ICT Internship program”. First batch of 200 interns has recently been placed in the ICT companies, whereas placement of 2nd batch of 200 interns is in progress.

Interested ICT companies may submit their demand for the ICT interns through on-line portal at www.internship.pseb.org.pk/internship/ or through postal mail addressed to Director Projects, PSEB, 2nd Floor, Evacuee Trust Complex Building, F-5/1, Agha Khan Road, Islamabad, Pakistan for further processing.

SELECTION OF COMPANIES FOR NATIONAL ICT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Pakistan Software Export Board in collaboration with National ICT R&D Fund is launching a new internship program titled “National ICT Internship program”. Through this program, PSEB will deploy 800 graduates with 16 or 18 years academic degrees who aim to develop a career in the ICT industry. While including ICT graduates the program shall also accommodate not more than 25% of students from the non-ICT discipline. ICT & Non-ICT fields includes;

ICT Fields (16 years of education)
4-years Bachelors Degree in ICT Discipline (BCS, BS-IT, Telecom Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Electronic Engineer, B-Tech), Masters degrees in ICT Discipline (MCS, MS-IT, MBA-IT, MS Project Management) or any other relevant ICT Degree.

Non-ICT Fields (12-14 years of education)
Higher Secondary School Certificate, Intermediate, A-Levels, Technical Diplomas equivalent to intermediate, D.Com, Bachelor degree (2-4 years) or equivalent.

Applications are invited from the ICT companies & IT departments of public sector organizations interested in forming partnerships with the “National ICT Internship Program”. The detailed TORs for the selection of ICT companies can be downloaded from http://www.pseb.org.pk. This will be an on-going process and companies can apply at any time during the life of the project (i.e. 24 months) in multiple batches but not exceeding twenty interns at one time as per their selection criteria and requirement. However, in order to deploy 1st batch of interns in the ICT Industry, detailed proposals must reach undersigned by 24th of September, 2012. PSEB have a right to accept or reject any proposal without assigning any reasons.

Selection criteria for the internship program is;
Students from rural Areas
i. First come first served basis
ii. CGPA for ICT students (2.0/4 or at least 50% marks)
iii. %age for Non-ICT students (at least 50% marks)

Students from urban Areas
i. First come first served basis
ii. CGPA for ICT students (2.50/4 or 1st Division)
iii. %age for Non-ICT students (at least 65% marks)
Intermediate (at least 70% marks), Bachelor (at least 55% marks)

Applications are invited from the students fulfilling the above criteria. The detailed TORs for the selection of Interns can be downloaded from http://www.pseb.org.pk. This will be an on-going process and the students can apply at any time during the life of the project (i.e. 24 months). PSEB is planning to deploy its first batch of 200 students effectively from December, 2012, therefore, Cvs of the eligible students must reach undersigned by 21th September, 2012. PSEB have a right to accept or reject any CV without assigning any reasons.

Note:While selection of the students for the internship program, provincial quota will be strictly observed.

Young Entrepreneurs are Welcome, PSEB Incubators Program schedules its first pitch session in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.

PSEB will be officially launching its Incubators program at TieCon2011 Islamabad to be held on the 30th of April. Companies will be able to apply for this program at the TieCon. PSEB is encouraging young entrepreneurs and companies to visit PSEB incubators program web page www.pseb.org.pk/incubators to find more details of the program.

To be considered for the program, you must go through a 2 stage evaluation process in front of a panel of judges. In the first step called the “Gong Session” you will make a 5 minute verbal presentation to PSEB panel of judges highlighting the core of your idea.  Focus will be on describing the core elements of your ideas and any people, businesses or entities who would want to use your product or service (your target market). It is advised that your practice your pitch and measure your presentation time. Presenter will not be allowed to continue after their 5 minute time is up. Only one presenter from each team will make the entire 5 minute presentation.

If you qualify after the “Gong Session” stage, you will be invited to make a more “detailed presentation”, 30 minutes in length to PSEB panel of judges. PSEB will publish guidelines to prepare this 30 minute   detailed presentation later.

The first “Gong Session” in Islamabad is scheduled for April 30th at TieCon Islamabad to be held at the convention center.

The first “Gong Session” in Karachi is scheduled for May 3rd; venue to be announced later.

The first “Gong Session” in Lahore is scheduled for May 7th; venue to be announced later.
